I performed weekly inspections across 20 CNC machines and robots to check for small broken parts and calibrations. The machines had air pressure gauges to ensure proper part mounting onto the machine and I tested and calibrated these thresholds and detected potential problems through these.
I also analyzed records of tool breaks that had thousands of breaks that spanned several years that I checked. I sorted the breaks by tool, machine, and date and performed cost analysis on the tools to find our most costly breakers and presented my findings to management on a weekly basis. My analysis led to more efficient work from my team due to more effective time allocation.
My analysis led to finding that many breaks were due to improper setup which led into a new project of the development of thourough tool setup sheets. My part in this project was to develop a Word VBA macro that allowed the tool setup sheet to be filled out digitally with check boxes and word boxes. When the setup sheet was finished the macro could be pressed and the setup sheet would be saved under a standardized name with an incrementing number in predetermined folder and then clear the sheet so the same file could be used for the next setup.
